Assignment for the week of April 27th
Monday, April 27th - Social studies is all about exploring the difficult questions in times of crisis. Write a short (1 page ) essay on the connection between civic duty and the Covid-19 crisis. Please refer to the "Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship" handout that was given out previously. If you do not have this, go here: - http://www.rgschool.com/7thgrade.html
The center focus for the essay: By staying at home, are we practicing civic responsibility by not potentially spreading the virus? Or, as some have argued, do we have a civic responsibility to resist the stay at home order if we find it unfair, unwise, or unlawful? What do you think? There is no "wrong answer" here since it's your opinion. Make sure to explore the question and show good reasoning in your essay.
The essay should be at least 1 page, 1.5 spaced, 12 point font. Watch your spelling and grammar. You can write it out by hand if you prefer. Make sure to reflect on our citizenship reading for a background on civic responsibility.
When you are done, you can email me the essay: [email protected]
Or you can take a picture of it, and send it to the same address.
The essay is due Wednesday by 5 pm
In Zoom-class on Wednesday we will discuss the essays and your opinions.
